About The Position

Intertek, a leading provider of quality and safety solutions, is seeking a Petroleum Laboratory Technician to join their Caleb Brett team in Garden City, GA. This role is within the Inspection and Testing business, focusing on specialized Cargo inspection and analytical assessment services for the oil and gas and chemical markets. The company has a global network of laboratories and over 130 years of customer service experience, acting as a Total Quality Assurance Provider. The Laboratory Technician will support analytical testing, maintain records, and ensure services are accurate, timely, and cost-effective.

Requirements

  • Must be able to work at both the Intertek location in Garden City and at the client's site on Elba Island.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, multi-tasking environment with shifting priorities and demanding deadlines.
  • Must be detailed-oriented and able to effectively prioritize and organize workload, with efficient time management.
  • Ability to communicate and interact effectively in verbal, written, and presentation formats.
  • Must possess the fundamental technical and administrative skills required to perform the job duties.
  • Must be customer-focused and quality-driven.
  • Valid Driver's License and reliable driving record required.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor of Science degree or equivalent experience preferred.
  • Two years’ experience in a laboratory environment preferred.
  • Ability to handle chemical and petroleum products.
  • Proficiency in online applications.
  • Ability to work some overtime and occasional off-shifts as needed.
  • Ability to perform analytical tasks and communicate results.

Responsibilities

  • Receives, examines and records inbound samples for testing through a login process.
  • Delivers test samples to the staging area.
  • Monitors the availability of supplies needed for testing processes and informs the Laboratory Manager of any needs.
  • Performs testing of samples and quality control specimens using specified methodology after demonstrating proficiency.
  • Reviews results against specifications and known expectations.
  • May be delegated to issue analysis to clients.
  • Prepares samples and quality control specimens.
  • Prepares and standardizes reagents and solutions.
  • Calibrates equipment needed for testing processes.
  • Verifies and communicates results obtained and makes appropriate entries into instrument logs, control charts, calibration records, laboratory worksheets, and any other media to ensure validity and traceability.
  • Maintains documentation, equipment, and work areas in a neat, orderly, and safe condition.
  • Assists in the training of less experienced employees once proficiency is demonstrated.
  • Carries out all responsibilities in a supportive manner, adhering to the Company’s Safety Policy and Procedures.
  • Adheres to all Company policies.

  • Performs other duties as required.
