About The Position

Bureau Veritas is a global leader in testing, inspection, and certification (TIC) services. This role is for a Laboratory Technician in the Metals Group Processing team, specifically supporting the Environmental Services laboratory in Mississauga. The primary function is to prepare environmental, food, and soil samples for inorganic testing. This involves performing laboratory preparation activities such as dilutions, reagent preparation, digestions, filtrations, and general sample processing. The technician will work within a team, adhering to strict quality, contamination control, and safety procedures to ensure accurate sample preparation for analysis. This is a full-time, temporary contract position, expected to be performed on-site, Monday to Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.

Requirements

  • Education in Chemical Technology or another science-related discipline.
  • Understanding of contamination control procedures.
  • Knowledge of procedures required to maintain sample integrity in a laboratory environment.
  • Experience with or exposure to laboratory preparation techniques such as reagent preparation, solution preparation, sample preparation, or dilutions.
  • Highly organized with a focus on producing accurate work.
  • Ability to carefully follow established procedures.
  • Ability to maintain detailed records.
  • Ability to consistently deliver quality work, even when managing multiple priorities.
  • Ability to work well both independently and as part of a team.
  • Effective communication skills.
  • Ability to contribute positively to the work environment.
  • Willingness to support colleagues to meet shared goals.
  • Availability for the required shift (Monday to Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.).

  • Experience in an environmental or analytical laboratory is an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Perform sample dilutions, prepare standards, reagents, and laboratory solutions.
  • Complete digestions, extractions, filtrations, and other sample preparation activities to support inorganic testing.
  • Follow Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) meticulously.
  • Maintain accurate records of laboratory activities.
  • Verify laboratory equipment as required.
  • Ensure correct sample handling to prevent cross-contamination or mix-ups.
  • Organize and prioritize work using laboratory schedules and turnaround times.
  • Contribute to daily and weekly workflow planning.
  • Provide support to instrument analysis teams as needed.
  • Follow all laboratory health and safety procedures.
  • Maintain a clean and organized workspace.
  • Report unsafe conditions.
  • Contribute to a culture of quality, safety, and continuous improvement.
