About The Position

This position will assist forensic toxicologists with laboratory duties working with biological samples and specimens to include administrative duties preparing reports and ensuring safety.

Requirements

• Working knowledge of terminology and techniques used in a toxicology laboratory.
• Working knowledge of basic laboratory equipment (including balances, pipettes, centrifuges, pH meter, etc.).
• Ability to follow laboratory instructions.
• Ability to conduct basic laboratory tests.
• Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations.
• Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
• Detail oriented.
• Associates degree from an accredited institution in a natural science in chemistry, biochemistry, forensic science, or related field; AND One year experience in a laboratory; OR An equivalent combination of education (not less than a high school diploma/GED), training, and experience that would reasonably be expected to provide the job‐related competencies noted above; AND Possession of a valid Florida Driver's License.

Responsibilities

• Receives, processes, and disposes of biological samples and preparing specimens for analysis.
• Maintains inventory and orders laboratory supplies.
• Administrative data entry and preparing toxicology reports.
• Performs laboratory quality assurance and safety checks.
• Prepares reagents.
• Performs other related duties as required.
