We are hiring a Laboratory Technician – VOC Canister Room (Media Packager) to join our Environmental Services team in Mississauga. This is a hands-on operational role supporting the preparation, maintenance, assembly, packaging, and shipment of specialized air-sampling equipment used by clients across Canada. Unlike traditional laboratory positions focused on analytical testing, this role combines equipment preparation, assembly work, troubleshooting, shipping support, and production activities within a highly specialized and collaborative team environment. This role offers extensive training and the opportunity to develop valuable laboratory, mechanical, and operational skills. This is a permanent, full-time position based in our Mississauga laboratory and is expected to work on-site five days per week during standard business hours.

Requirements

• You have a college diploma, university degree, or equivalent experience.
• A background in science, environmental studies, manufacturing, assembly, shipping, warehouse operations, or other hands-on environments is considered an asset.
• Attention to detail and accuracy. You take pride in ensuring orders are correctly prepared, documented, and processed without error.
• Strong work ethic and accountability. You are dependable, take ownership of your responsibilities, and consistently follow through on commitments.
• Hands-on and physically capable. You enjoy active work, are comfortable standing for extended periods, performing repetitive tasks, and lifting materials weighing up to 40 pounds.
• Independence and initiative. You can work with minimal supervision, identify what needs to be done, and proactively contribute to team success.
• Communication and teamwork skills. You communicate clearly and work effectively with colleagues across laboratory, logistics, and customer service functions.
• Basic computer proficiency. You are comfortable using email, Microsoft Office applications, and simple computer systems to manage information and complete daily tasks.
• Problem-solving and initiative. You are proactive in identifying issues, escalating concerns when needed, and contributing to efficient workflow management.

Responsibilities

• Package and prepare client orders accurately. You will ensure environmental sampling canisters and equipment are correctly labelled, organized, packaged, and prepared for shipment, including all required documentation.
• Manage order tracking and system updates. You will enter tracking information, update the LIMS Cylinder Inventory system, and ensure all orders are completed and closed in accordance with daily timelines.
• Coordinate timely order flow and shipment readiness. You will ensure all prepared orders are delivered to designated warehouse or dispatch areas on schedule to meet client and operational deadlines.
• Maintain quality, safety, and operational standards. You will follow established SOPs, QA/QC requirements, and health and safety procedures while maintaining a clean and organized work area to prevent errors and accidents.
• Support cross-functional laboratory operations. You will collaborate with media entry staff, analysts, supervisors, and logistics teams to ensure smooth workflow and provide backup support when required.
• Ensure stock and supply readiness. You will monitor and maintain inventory of packaging materials and supplies, escalating requirements to supervisors as needed.
