About The Position

The Department of Otolaryngology - Head/Neck Surgery is seeking a highly motivated applicant for a Laboratory Technician II position. This role will involve conducting preclinical studies evaluating novel therapeutic interventions for olfactory loss using murine models of chronic sinusitis, in compliance with IACUC protocols. The technician will also perform flow cytometric analysis of murine and human airway tissues, including experimental design, sample preparation, data acquisition, and interpretation. Additionally, the role includes executing ELISA and cytometric bead array assays for biomarker quantification in clinical trial specimens, managing laboratory inventory, and collecting and processing human tissue samples from operating rooms, including cataloging, establishing primary cell cultures, and preparing specimens for downstream applications.

Requirements

  • Associate’s degree in an appropriate area of specialization and two years of related experience or a high school diploma and four years of related experience.
  • Appropriate college course work or vocational/technical training may substitute at an equivalent rate for the required experience.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in laboratory techniques with strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and work effectively in a team-oriented environment.
  • Coursework or academic background in immunology or related biomedical sciences is advantageous; training will be provided given the unique assays conducted by the laboratory.
  • Willingness to work occasional evenings, weekends, or holidays as required by experimental timelines.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working with mice and/or immunological assays is preferred.

Responsibilities
