Laboratory Technician II

University of FloridaGainesville, FL
Onsite

About The Position

The Laboratory Technician II will participate in various animal studies, including administering pharmacological agents and immunotherapy via different injection methods, and assisting with imaging techniques such as MRI, CT, and MPI. The role involves experimental approaches using magnetic nanoparticles and plays a key role in regulatory management, specifically with IACUCs. Responsibilities also include histological work such as collecting and preparing tissues, preparing slides, staining, and conducting image capture and analysis. Molecular techniques include molecular cloning, plasmid purification, primer design, RNA and DNA isolation, real-time PCR, PCR genotyping, immunoassays, cell line maintenance, and protein analysis via western blots. The technician will also perform multiparameter flow cytometry and develop multicolor flow panels. A significant part of the role involves ensuring laboratory compliance with governing rules and regulations, coordinating IACUC and IRB submissions, meeting EH&S standards, and training new laboratory members. Additionally, the technician will train and supervise students performing diagnostic procedures related to immune therapy experiments and perform other duties as needed to fulfill the mission and abide by the values of the College of Medicine, including performing tasks and experiments as directed by the Principal Investigator.
