About The Position

The non-exempt Lab Technician II – Laboratory Support position will support and perform routine and non-routine laboratory activities in accordance with appropriate safety, GDP, and cGMP guidelines. This position also supports general manufacturing, facilities, metrology, laboratory, equipment, housekeeping, and administrative tasks within the department and actively supports the continuous improvement of department and laboratory processes, areas, and standards. The PDS Tech-Ops Lab Technician II will be expected to give guidance and provide training to the Lab Technician I.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required; 2+ years of post-secondary education in engineering, physical science, biological science, or a related technical field preferred.
  • 3–5 years of experience in a laboratory or manufacturing environment preferred, including pharmaceutical laboratory technician experience.
  • Ability to work effectively in a regulated environment; previous GDP/GMP experience is preferred.
  • Strong attention to detail, teamwork, and written/verbal communication skills, with the ability to maintain clear and accurate documentation.
  • Basic computer and math skills required; working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint preferred.
  • Ability to wear required PPE, including respiratory protection, and meet the physical requirements of the position, including prolonged sitting/standing, reaching, bending, fine motor tasks, and lifting up to 50 pounds.

Responsibilities

  • Support daily Development Laboratory operations while following established procedures, SOPs, GDP/GMP requirements, and safety practices.
  • Operate and support laboratory equipment and instrumentation, including analytical/top-loader balances, conductivity meters, and pH meters.
  • Track laboratory equipment and coordinate routine and non-routine calibration and maintenance activities with Metrology and Facilities.
  • Manage laboratory hazardous waste, conduct required weekly inspections, and maintain chemical inventories, including proper disposal of expired materials.
  • Maintain inventory and restock laboratory supplies, PPE, labels, forms, tools, spare parts, and disposable materials.
  • Identify and organize/improve laboratory and storage areas using 5S principles.
  • Support laboratory documentation, including writing and revising SOPs and training materials, maintaining equipment logbooks, and preparing Equipment Action Forms (EAFs).
  • Assist with onboarding and training new employees on laboratory operations, equipment, safety practices, and waste management procedures.
  • Order laboratory supplies and PPE using procurement systems such as SAP, communicate with vendors and manufacturers, and support additional laboratory activities as assigned.
