Position Summary As a Laboratory Technician I you will provide essential support to the microbiology team by maintaining, operating, and overseeing equipment required for testing activities. You will perform fundamental microbiology techniques to assist scientists and ensure testing workflows run smoothly. Your daily responsibilities include preparing materials needed for testing, supporting media and reagent preparation, and helping maintain a well‑organized laboratory environment. In this role you will work closely with a group focused on biological indicators, with opportunities over time to expand into additional tasks and responsibilities within the team. This role requires in-person or onsite work 5 days per week at our Mentor, OH Corporate HQ.

Requirements

  • Associate’s degree in microbiology, biotechnology, chemistry/biology or any related discipline
  • Ability to work standing for long periods of time.
  • Physical work sometimes repetitive
  • Proven ability to work autonomously with limited supervision
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work independently and collaboratively
  • Highly motivated, organized, and results‑driven

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with GLP, chemical/biological hazards; PPE required
  • Basic data acquisition skills; MS Office.
  • Strong attention to detail, documentation discipline, communication, teamwork
  • Previous experience working with various microorganisms (e.g., mycobacteria, spores, fungi, Gram‑positive and Gram‑negative bacteria, endotoxins, etc.)
  • Proficiency in aseptic culture methods
  • Proficiency in bacterial culture techniques
  • Prior experience using laboratory equipment such as HPLC, MS, titrators, carbon analyzers, spectrofluorometers, UV‑Visible spectrophotometers, etc.
  • Positive and proactive attitude with a demonstrated ability to take initiative
  • Strong learning agility and adaptability in a fast‑changing environment
  • Excellent client‑focused mindset when supporting project teams and external partners
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills across internal and external stakeholders
  • High attention to detail and commitment to quality and accuracy

Responsibilities

  • Prepare solutions, reagents, controls; label/document per SOPs.
  • Perform microbiological and chemical analyses per SOP/validated methods.
  • Execute assigned steps in scientific validation protocols under supervision (cleaning, temperature mapping, disinfection, microbiology, sterilization, chemical residues, cytotoxicity support, etc.).
  • Assist with equipment installation and IQ/OQ under supervision.
  • Perform equipment cleaning, PM, and calibration checks; escalate deviations promptly.
  • Assist in developing approaches to equipment process problems.
  • Gather and assist in the analysis of test results and transmit them to the supervisor.
  • Record data in notebooks/e‑systems; prepare summary reports.
  • Conduct routine care (calibration follow‑ups, autoclave operation, cleaning, chemical/micro monitoring).
  • Manage inventory, purchasing, ordering, receiving/shipping.
  • Follow EHS and BSL‑2 (if required) procedures; engage in Lean 5S initiatives.
  • Support implementation of new document templates and checklists.
  • Other duties as assigned.
