About The Position

Eurofins Environment Testing Northern California - Air Toxics is looking for a Laboratory Technician I to join our Folsom, CA team. This role involves preparing samples for analysis, performing routine laboratory support activities, assisting analysts, serving as a laboratory runner, and handling administrative tasks. The technician will operate the Air Toxics LIMS system, maintain records, and ensure all activities comply with SOPs and client requirements. The position requires attention to detail, effective communication, and the ability to manage multiple assignments in a fast-paced environment.

  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include; close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
  • Ability to safely handle and transport bulk chemicals including cryogenic Dewars of liquid nitrogen, compressed gasses including helium, nitrogen and hydrogen, sharps and liquid solvents such as methylene chloride, acetonitrile and acetone.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare samples for analysis in accordance with applicable Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), analytical methods, client requirements, and internal procedures.
  • Pressurize, screen, and otherwise prepare samples as required for analytical testing.
  • Perform routine laboratory support activities and assist analysts with sample handling, preparation, and other analytical needs.
  • Serve as a laboratory runner, transporting samples, standards, supplies, paperwork, and other materials throughout the laboratory as needed.
  • Perform administrative and clerical tasks associated with laboratory operations, including documentation, data entry, sample tracking, and record maintenance.
  • Read, understand, and accurately follow SOPs, Air Toxics methods, client requirements, and internal procedures.
  • Ensure all sample preparation, documentation, data handling, and laboratory activities are completed accurately and in accordance with applicable procedures.
  • Prepare calibration standards and other materials required for analytical testing.
  • Operate and utilize the Air Toxics LIMS system for sample tracking, documentation, data entry, and other applicable laboratory functions.
  • Maintain accurate and complete records of work performed and ensure documentation is completed in a timely manner.
  • Assist analytical personnel with routine laboratory tasks and provide support as needed to maintain efficient workflow.
  • Monitor sample and workload status and communicate production, quality, equipment, or sample-related issues to management.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area in accordance with laboratory safety requirements.
  • Demonstrate accuracy, attention to detail, and consistency when handling samples, documentation, and laboratory materials.
  • Demonstrate effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Prioritize and manage multiple assignments while meeting established deadlines and turnaround requirements.

  • Perform other laboratory, administrative, and support duties as assigned.
