Laboratory Technician 1- Winters
About The Position
Under the general supervision of the Laboratory Manager, the Laboratory Technician 1 will be providing support to the Microbiology and Chemistry department. This role primarily serves in a production atmosphere as support, performing all activities in a neat, safe, hygienic, and efficient manner. The technician will communicate with all laboratory personnel to ensure quality and efficient service, maintain customer satisfaction and appropriate confidentiality, and demonstrate a working knowledge of ISO 17025 Quality procedures related to sample documentation. A professional attitude and acceptable working relationship with coworkers are expected, along with offering assistance when applicable. The role involves assisting with washing and maintaining lab ware, reading quantitative data and entering it into the LIMS system, preparing and setting up samples for analysis, and maintaining laboratory conditions including equipment, supplies, quality assurance, and accurate records. The technician will demonstrate proper techniques such as pipetting and labeling samples, and show successful performance in proficiency testing. Responsibilities also include preparing and maintaining bacteriological media, ensuring sanitation in all areas for a superior level of cleanliness, and providing routine preventive maintenance through daily cleaning, sanitizing, and trash disposal. Assistance with other assigned duties as needed is also part of the role.
Requirements
- A.S or B.S. in Biology and/or Chemistry preferred, or equivalent experience.
- Possess knowledge and demonstrate skills of aseptic technique.
- High attention to detail is a must.
- Strong organizational and time management skills

- Prepares and maintain bacteriological media (i.e.: BPW, LST, TSB, etc.).
- Responsible for sanitation in all areas to maintain a superior level of cleanliness.
- Provides routine preventive maintenance by daily cleaning, sanitizing, and disposing of trash.
- Assist in other assigned duties as needed.
