About The Position

The University of Nevada, Reno is seeking applications for a Laboratory Technician 1 in the Physiology and Cell Biology department. This position does not provide layoff rights and is contingent upon funding. This position will be responsible for assisting with the research needs of the investigators, including mouse husbandry, genotyping, and organizing breeding schemes, assisting in the purchasing, cataloging, and maintenance of reagent inventory. This position will assist with experiments by preparing solutions, reagents, and performing common laboratory duties to ensure research compliance. Requirements

  • Graduation from high school or equivalent education and two (2) years of laboratory experience performing various laboratory procedures; OR An equivalent combination of education and experience as described above.
  • Pursuant to NRS 284.4066, some positions in this series have been identified as affecting public safety. Persons offered employment in these positions must submit to pre-employment screening for controlled substances.

Nice To Haves

  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Strong writing and communication skills
  • Experience in molecular biology techniques (e.g., PCR, DNA extraction)
  • Experience in experimental techniques, including patch-clamp electrophysiology, light microscopy, and surgery are a plus

Responsibilities

  • assisting with the research needs of the investigators, including mouse husbandry, genotyping, and organizing breeding schemes
