Laboratory Supervisor - Microbiology Section
About The Position
We’re seeking a Microbiology Section Lab Supervisor to oversee daily microbiology operations, lead laboratory staff, maintain quality standards, and ensure accurate, reliable diagnostic results in a hospital laboratory environment. In this role, you’ll help maintain the laboratory standards that clinicians rely on every day—from specimen processing and microbiological testing to quality control and accurate diagnostic reporting. The position is particularly well suited for a CLS who enjoys remaining connected to laboratory science while taking greater ownership of people, processes, quality, and laboratory performance.
Requirements
- Active California Clinical Laboratory Scientist (CLS) License
- Bachelor’s degree in Clinical Laboratory Science or related field
- Strong experience in Clinical Microbiology laboratory operations
Nice To Haves
- ASCP certification preferred
Responsibilities
- Oversee daily operations of the Microbiology section, including technical procedures, workflow, and staff performance
- Ensure accurate testing, specimen integrity, quality control, and reliability of laboratory results
- Supervise, train, mentor, and support Clinical Laboratory Scientists and laboratory personnel
- Support compliance with CAP, CLIA, Joint Commission, and applicable laboratory regulatory standards
