About The Position

LifeShare is seeking a Supervisor for our hematology laboratory. The Supervisor will coordinate and supervise the daily activities of the hematology analysts, ensuring quality laboratory procedures are performed in accordance with standards established by the FDA and LifeShare’s standard operating procedures. Reporting to the Lab Manager, the Hematology Lab Supervisor will have the following primary duties: Makes high level decisions related to the smooth running of the laboratory and coordinates work flow to ensure donor blood is processed in a timely, safe and efficient manner. Provides immediate supervision to team members to ensure tests on donor and patient blood samples are performed in accordance with written reference procedures, recording observed results, making interpretations, and completing all required reports and documentation. Recognizes unacceptable test results, troubleshoots and identifies the causes, makes necessary adjustments to equipment, reagents or procedures where possible in order to complete testing. Performs scheduled quality control procedures and observations on equipment and/or reagents used in the Laboratory, taking corrective action when results are outside acceptable ranges and completes all necessary records, reports or documents. Performs special serological tests and analyzes results on patient blood samples to define immunohematological problems, determine appropriate blood for transfusion therapy and ensures that blood is tested in a timely manner. Maintains current scientific and technical knowledge of blood banking, immunohematology, CLIA, FDA and AABB regulations.

Requirements

  • Associate's Degree in a medical science field.
  • At least three (3) years of experience as a Medical Laboratory Technician.
  • Possess and maintain MLT certification or equivalent national accrediting examination.
  • Demonstrated supervisory experience.
  • Technical and administrative skills required.
  • Working knowledge and understanding of CLIA, FDA, OSHA, and AABB regulations and statutes.
  • Working knowledge and understanding of Current Good Manufacturing Practices (CGMP) guidelines for laboratory operations.
