About The Position

The Mechanical Engineering Department at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University in Daytona Beach is seeking a Lab Supervisor & Teaching Assistant to support the Department's experiential learning activities, including laboratory courses, student projects, and research projects. This role involves oversight of laboratory spaces, ensuring safety, OSHA compliance, and general maintenance. It also includes instructional assistance in machine shop and materials labs, covering areas like sheet metal, milling, turning, welding, measurements, and materials testing. The position also entails supervising and training student employees, including selection, training, and daily oversight, as well as providing general departmental support for activities and events. This is a 40-hour per week, in-person position located at the Daytona Beach, Florida Campus. Hours may be non-traditional to support laboratory activities and may include evenings and occasional weekends, with exact work schedules determined in concert with a supervisor. Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, relevant certifications such as A&P, and/or experience in relevant work.
  • Experience with manufacturing techniques including welding, CNC machining, sheet metal, and hand fabrication techniques.
  • Skills with CAD and CAM software such as SolidWorks or CATIA.
  • A desire to work with and teach undergraduate students.
  • Experience with OSHA and other relevant health and safety regulations.
