About The Position

The Laboratory Scientist is responsible for the day-to-day processing of samples and performing standard laboratory procedures. The role produces, interprets, and reports accurate and precise test results while following department protocols, laboratory safety precautions, and procedure manuals. The Laboratory Scientist also supports instrument maintenance, troubleshooting, quality assurance, inventory, and communication across the department and PathGroup subsidiaries.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in a chemical, physical, or biological science, or medical laboratory technology.
One year of prior job-related experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

Receive and process specimens according to department protocols.
Meet productivity expectations established by current departmental guidelines.
Follow laboratory safety precautions and procedures in procedure manuals.
Assist the Supervisor, Manager, and Director with administrative functions, including ordering supplies and maintaining inventory.
Produce, interpret, and report accurate and precise test results.
Communicate pertinent section information and issues to the supervisor, manager, or another appropriate individual.
Perform instrument maintenance and method troubleshooting.
Assist with documentation and maintaining effective department quality assurance programs and monitors.
Work with other departments within PathGroup and its subsidiaries.
Become familiar with and abide by the Corporate Compliance Program and corporate policies, including Privacy and Security policies.
Perform other duties as assigned; management may assign or reassign duties and responsibilities.
