About The Position

The Laboratory Quality Coordinator role at Ohio County Hospital is a full-time position responsible for ensuring quality within the laboratory. This role involves assisting laboratory leadership with training, competencies, and education for phlebotomy and CLIA waived testing personnel. The position requires maintaining phlebotomy skills across various patient demographics and sample types, including drug screens and DOT collections. The coordinator will also support new lab employees in understanding workflows and challenges, and is expected to continuously develop professionally and maintain positive working relationships. The role requires adherence to all hospital policies, ethical standards, and regulatory compliance, including HIPAA and workplace safety.

Requirements

  • Minimum high school diploma or equivalent required for all positions (may be allowed to sign a GED agreement to obtain within 6 months).
  • Trained as a moderate complexity tester.
  • Certification in DOT collections.

Nice To Haves

  • 1 year phlebotomy experience or certification.

Responsibilities

  • Phlebotomy experience in all areas.
  • Sample collection.
  • Collection of urine/blood drug screens, chain of custody.
  • Assist laboratory leadership to gather information regarding the training, competencies, and education of all phlebotomy and CLIA waived testing personnel.
  • Maintains all phlebotomy skills.
  • Maintains DOT certification.
  • Maintains train the trainer certification, LIS phlebotomy superuser and competency.
  • Will work with each new lab employee to understand the unique workflow and challenges to facilitate needed support for laboratory services.
  • Maintains and continues professional self-development and exhibits positive human relations.
  • Accept supervision. Seeks guidance/assistance as needed and accepts supervisory feedback nondefensively.
