Sora Fuel aims to decarbonize aviation by converting air into affordable, carbon-neutral jet fuel at scale with no feedstock constraints or adverse impacts on agriculture. Our novel electrolysis technology directly converts captured carbon via direct air capture (DAC) into syngas without needing to regenerate CO2, thereby reducing the energy required by up to 90%. This provides an economical pathway to carbon-neutral flight, potentially addressing >2% of global emissions. The company was founded in early 2024 with funding from renowned tough tech investor Engine Ventures. We exceeded our initial technical goals and are actively recruiting for a range of roles to scale the technology for a Demonstration Plant. We seek to build a diverse, collaborative team that shares our enthusiasm and drive to meaningfully address climate change. Role The Operations Associate will be responsible for supporting laboratory operations including but not limited to: analytical equipment maintenance, materials QA/QC, routine experimental support, and laboratory upkeep. The Operations Associate will interface with every part of the Science Team at Sora Fuel, and will play a vital role in the research and development of our core electrolyzer technology. The ideal candidate has a bachelor’s degree in chemistry, materials science, engineering, or a related field with some laboratory experience (either from coursework, academic research, or industrial experience, with a preference for candidates with industrial analytical chemistry experience). In addition to these experiences, the ideal candidate is highly organized, collaborative, and has clear written communication skills. Candidates do not need specific electrochemical or analytical expertise, and will be trained by senior team members.
