JOB SUMMARY The Operations Manager will assist Microbac leadership in gaining efficiencies within the laboratory and reducing TAT (Turn Around Time) in sample analysis and reporting. The Operations Manager will have experience and knowledge of environmental analysis of wastewater, storm water, and drinking water or experience and knowledge of food sample analysis including solid samples, sponges, and swabs. Knowledge of specific environmental water testing methods and technology utilized in analysis is required.

Requirements

Bachelor's degree in the chemical, environmental, biological or engineering field. At least 5 years of experience in a testing lab.
Basic knowledge of principles, terminology, practices, techniques and instrumentation commonly used in a laboratory setting.
Ability to effectively prioritize work and manage time to meet deadlines and rush orders.
Computer literacy.
Ability to work with laboratory equipment and diagnose and troubleshoot instrumentation issues when they arise.
Ability to communicate effectively in both written and verbal formats.
Knowledge of environmental methodologies.

Responsibilities

Responsible for supervising the Department leads (Client Services, Food Department Manager, Environmental Department Manager).
Following established SOP’s and adhering to state, federal and other accrediting body requirements to support the analytical testing needs of clients, for such purposes as quantitative analysis.
Oversee facility maintenance: scheduling repairs and preventative maintenance appointments for the facility and various lab equipment.
Assisting wherever needed: food lab, environmental lab, client services.
Field questions, emails, and calls from clients including walk-in clients.
Accurately record observations and data and basic interpretation of data.
Maintain the integrity of procedures and record professional activity for peer review.
Monitor and address sample backlog issues.
Perform data review in the LIMS (Laboratory Information System).
Comply with and promote the Microbac Quality and Safety programs.
