About The Position

The Laboratory Operations Assistant provides essential operational support to the Product Development research laboratory. This role is responsible for maintaining a clean, safe, and organized lab environment. This includes glassware care, waste management, supply ordering, and equipment maintenance coordination, so that scientific staff can focus on research activities. The ideal candidate is reliable, detail-oriented, and proactive.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • Basic computer proficiency (Microsoft Office, email, electronic ordering systems).
  • Ability to read and follow SOPs, safety data sheets (SDS), and written work instructions.
  • Competencies: Attention to Detail, Organizational Skills, Reliability & Punctuality, Teamwork & Collaboration, Self-Starter, Adaptability, Communication.

Nice To Haves

  • Coursework or Associate's degree in a science-related field is a plus.
  • Minimum one (1) year of experience in a laboratory, manufacturing, or industrial setting preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Regular attendance and punctuality, attending mandatory trainings as required.
  • Wash, sanitize, inspect, and store laboratory glassware following established protocols; operate automated glasswasher equipment.
  • Clean and maintain laboratory benches, hoods, and common work surfaces on a regular schedule.
  • Monitor and empty chemical, biological, and general waste containers on a defined schedule; segregate waste streams (e.g., chemical, sharps, non-hazardous) per regulatory requirements.
  • Coordinate waste pickup with licensed disposal vendors; maintain waste manifests and disposal records in compliance with EHS regulations.
  • Apply appropriate PPE at all times; promptly report spills or safety concerns to supervisor.
  • Maintain organized storage of chemicals, reagents, and consumables; track expiration dates and perform routine inventory counts.
  • Place routine supply orders through approved vendors; track open orders, receive incoming shipments, and verify contents against packing lists.
  • Perform routine non-technical maintenance: change chart records on stability chambers, empty/refill water baths and dehumidifiers, and clean instrument exteriors.
  • Coordinate preventive maintenance and calibration visits with service vendors; maintain an equipment service log tracking PM dates and upcoming calibrations.
  • Monitor instrument status and alert scientific staff to out-of-range readings or alarms.
  • Assist with labeling, autoclave runs, material staging, and other tasks as directed by scientific staff.
  • Support onboarding of new lab staff on organizational systems and procedures.
  • Attend all required safety and compliance training sessions; conduct all activities per established guidelines / procedures.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
