About The Position

The Laboratory Operations Assistant provides essential support for daily operations within a biotech Contract Research Organization (CRO). This entry-level role focuses on sample logging and tracking, inventory management, and coordination of shipping and receiving activities. The position will initially be temporary with the possibility of conversion to direct full time. The position also includes organizing laboratory supplies and providing basic laboratory support and contribution to scientific team as needed. This is an excellent opportunity for recent graduates or individuals seeking to gain hands-on experience in a fast-paced research environment.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree (BA/BS) in Biology, Chemistry, Biomedical Sciences, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
  • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Office (Excel, Word)
  • Willingness to learn laboratory processes and operational workflows
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • Adherence to safety protocols and proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE) required

Nice To Haves

  • Previous internship or academic laboratory experience
  • Familiarity with laboratory inventory systems (e.g., LIMS)
  • Experience handling biological samples or working in a lab environment
  • Basic understanding of laboratory techniques (e.g., pipetting, sample preparation)
  • Knowledge of shipping procedures for biological or temperature-sensitive materials

Responsibilities

  • Log, label, and track client samples using internal systems (e.g., LIMS or tracking databases)
  • Maintain accurate and organized records of sample inventory and storage locations
  • Coordinate shipping and receiving of biological samples and laboratory materials, ensuring proper handling and documentation
  • Prepare shipments in compliance with regulatory and safety requirements (e.g., temperature control, packaging standards)
  • Monitor inventory levels and order laboratory supplies as needed
  • Organize and restock laboratory consumables and storage areas
  • Assist with general laboratory upkeep, including maintaining cleanliness and organization
  • Perform basic laboratory tasks such as pipetting, sample aliquoting, or simple assay preparation under supervision
  • Support laboratory staff with administrative and operational tasks as assigned
  • Follow standard operating procedures (SOPs) and safety guidelines at all times
