About The Position

The Laboratory Logistics Assistant will be responsible for various tasks related to sample handling, preparation, and logistics within the laboratory. This role requires meticulous attention to detail, the ability to follow strict protocols, and a commitment to maintaining a safe and organized work environment. The assistant will play a crucial part in ensuring the smooth flow of samples from intake to their final destination within the lab or for return to clients.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
• Ability to work the 10:00 AM – 7:00 PM schedule reliably.
• Capability to read and interpret English alphanumeric IDs, tags, and standard lab labeling.
• Strong focus required to accurately identify minor differences in numbers, letters, and barcodes.
• Fine motor skills for handling small lab tools, caps, and test tubes repeatedly.
• Ability to lift small to medium shipping containers.
• Ability to follow SOPs and established quality control procedures accurately.
• Ability to follow laboratory safety procedures and required PPE guidelines.
• Ability to work effectively and communicate clearly with laboratory and logistics teams.

Responsibilities

• Unpack packages upon arrival, verify sample IDs against manifests, and evaluate sample condition.
• Generate and accurately attach barcode labels to tubes, vials, and specimen holders.
• Dispense measured volumes of liquid samples into smaller containers using automated equipment or manual pipettes.
• Sort and prepare samples for distribution to designated testing departments or client categories.
• Package and process samples for return delivery to clients or handle standard disposal following set protocols.
• Use standard computers and barcode readers to log sample tracking information, status updates, and shipping records.
• Maintain a clean, organized receiving station stocked with necessary lab supplies.
