About The Position

Under the supervision of the Faculty Advisor and the Laboratory Manager, the Section Leader is responsible for planning, maintaining, and monitoring all of the functions within a defined scope of testing within the department. This includes ensuring that the department meets all standards set forth by CAP, TJC, CMS, and AABB. The role involves maintaining procedures and equipment for the specified area of departmental testing, ensuring compliance with all standards set forth by relative accrediting agencies, and overseeing appropriate instrument/equipment quality control performance and maintenance. The Section Leader will also maintain appropriate inventories, effectively manage the use of supplies and reagents, and perform laboratory procedures. Additional duties may be assigned.

Requirements

  • Clinical Laboratory Scientist Education: Bachelor’s Degree with completion of a NAACLS approved MLS/CLS program OR Bachelor’s in Biology/Chemistry or related science OR Associate Degree in Medical Laboratory Technology from a NAACLS approved MLT program OR Associate Degree or 60 semester hours with 6 hours in Chemistry and 6 hours in Biology and Accredited MLT Training
  • Clinical Laboratory Scientist Experience: 3 years relevant experience
  • Clinical Laboratory Scientist License/Certification: MLT, MT or categorical ASCP, or equivalent required
  • Histotechnologist/Histotechnician Education: Bachelor’s Degree or High School or High School Equivalency in Compliance with the Clinical Laboratory Improvement Act & Amendments (CLIA)
  • Histotechnologist/Histotechnician Experience: 3 years relevant experience for Bachelor’s degree or 5 years relevant experience for HS diploma
  • Histotechnologist/Histotechnician License/Certification: HT or HTL, ASCP or equivalent preferred
  • Experience in defined scope of testing
