About The Position

Rural hospital located several hundred miles northwest of Anchorage, AK seeking a full-time, Laboratory Information Specialist to join their team. This role involves working closely with laboratorians and information systems staff to manage day-to-day electronic health record operations and resolve all billing rejections. The specialist will demonstrate personal initiative and accountability while maintaining the department’s electronic health record for accuracy, and will analyze data and information systems inefficiencies, evaluate alternatives, and make logical recommendations based on findings.

Requirements

5 years of Information systems training or experience, laboratory training or experience or general health care experience
Knowledge of Laboratory and Interdepartmental functions
Must have knowledge of Laboratory billing programs, processes and procedures
Knowledge of Laboratory Specific Modules (training provided by various sources.)

Responsibilities

Manage the day-to-day electronic health record operations
Resolve all billing rejections which occur either through our current processes involving all electronic systems
Demonstrate personal initiative and accountability while maintaining the department’s electronic health record for accuracy
Analyzes data and information systems inefficiencies, evaluates alternatives, and makes logical recommendations based on findings.
