About The Position

As an Engineering Aide, you will be a key member of the Specialty Labs supporting engineering development and testing of parts and materials necessary for the manufacture of spacecrafts, missiles, and ground support hardware. In this role you will ensure equipment and consumables that meet the needs of testing and engineering development are sourced, quoted, and acquired quickly to provide engineers and analysts what they need to deliver data, insights, and engineering development prototypes per customer requirements. You will contact vendors to obtain pricing for equipment repair services and follow through on the procurement process to ensure repairs are performed quickly in order to ensure testing and engineering development solutions are provided to customers on time and on budget. You will perform laboratory support operations to meet customer expectations including chemical inventories, information system asset management, quality audits, specimen and equipment movement, and manage calibration and metrology requirements. You will also perform preliminary analysis of data and apply quantitative judgments to develop process optimization, support laboratory engineers in the development of test plans, performing testing, evaluating data and reporting test results, and perform lab and facilities personnel coordination to maintain effective laboratory environments.

Requirements

  • Associates degree in related discipline or equivalent experience. Coursework completed towards a degree may be considered
  • Basic understanding of STEM (science, technology, engineering and math) principles
  • Ability to tackle detailed assignments often requiring learning or developing planning and integration skills
  • Desire to continually learn, ambition to proactively address challenges, and aspiration to work in a diverse team environment

  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to adjust to a variety of audiences
  • Able to work independently within a team and handle multiple priorities and internal customers
  • Good presentation skills; must be able to present clearly and concisely on a weekly basis to management and customers
  • Microsoft Office skills in PowerPoint, Excel and Word
  • Proficiency in project planning and product life cycle management
  • Laboratory testing knowledge
  • Knowledge of Material Resource Planning (MRP) for procurement
  • Familiarity with Agile methodologies, scrum master and use of Jira boards
  • Familiarity with process documentation and ISO quality requirements
