ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Required to assemble millimeter-scale components that meet specifications Expected to develop innovative but practical solutions to technical problems in target assembly to enhance manufacturability Capable at working in cleanroom laboratory environment, using manual techniques to manipulate delicate micro-assemblies Ability to operate microscope in cleanroom environment Develops, implements, and maintains methods, operation sequence and processes in the manufacture or fabrication of parts, components, sub-assemblies, and final assemblies. Designs the sequence of production operations, specifying procedures for the fabrication of applicable tools and equipment, and adapting machinery Maintains records and reporting systems for coordination of manufacturing operations Develops appropriate documentation of findings and implemented solutions and communicates results to staff Measures completed assemblies using metrology hardware and collects data Cleans, adjusts and replaces parts on lab equipment Expected to work in a safe manner in accordance with established operating procedures and practices. Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree and 1 year of relevant experience required
  • Equivalent combination of education and experience

Responsibilities

  • Conducts experiments, tests, and research within a laser laboratory setting.
  • Assists more experienced engineers or scientists in designing and setting up experiments, maintaining equipment, and collecting data.
  • Diagnoses and performs preventative maintenance on system components including recovery, replacement, and reconfiguration of damaged sensitive components.
  • Manages fragile targets for laser exploration.
  • Assembles millimeter-scale components that meet specifications.
  • Develops innovative but practical solutions to technical problems in target assembly to enhance manufacturability.
  • Works in a cleanroom laboratory environment, using manual techniques to manipulate delicate micro-assemblies.
  • Operates a microscope in a cleanroom environment.
