About The Position

Join our Laboratory Design Project Team and help shape innovative, high-performance lab environments that support scientific discovery and operational excellence. As a Lab Furniture Designer, you’ll collaborate with cross-functional partners to bring complex laboratory spaces to life—balancing functionality, efficiency, and design precision. In this role, you’ll contribute directly to our furniture growth strategy by delivering high-quality designs that enhance customer outcomes, improve processes, and drive profitability. You’ll have the opportunity to work on both new construction and renovation projects while building your reputation as a trusted technical expert within the team. This is a hybrid position based in Dallas, TX, offering flexibility along with in-person collaboration for key meetings, training, and team engagement.

Requirements

  • Proficiency with AutoCAD and Revit required.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills.
  • Ability to interpret construction documents, specifications, and architectural drawings.
  • Detail-oriented with a strong commitment to accuracy and accountability.
  • Strong organizational, time management, and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office 365.
  • Solid mathematical and spatial reasoning abilities.
  • Able to balance quality and speed in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor's Degree in Interior Design, Architecture, Engineering, or related field preferred.
  • 2+ years of drafting/design experience within a high-volume environment preferred.
  • Experience with laboratory design, renovations, or construction projects preferred.
  • Familiarity with metal casework systems is a plus.
  • Experience with 2020, SAP, C4C, and/or Bluebeam is a plus.
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered in lieu of a degree.

Responsibilities

  • Design innovative laboratory spaces for new construction and renovation projects using AutoCAD and Revit.
  • Create detailed 2D and 3D drawings, including plans, elevations, sections, and installation documentation.
  • Develop accurate bills of materials and manage change orders to support seamless project execution.
  • Optimize laboratory layouts through space planning, furniture selection, and value engineering principles.
  • Collaborate with sales, estimators, architects, engineers, suppliers, and customers to deliver best-in-class laboratory solutions.
  • Serve as a technical expert by providing accurate and reliable design support for customer proposals and project planning.
  • Revise and coordinate drawings based on project feedback, specifications, and evolving customer requirements.
  • Research, specify, and integrate custom furniture solutions and vendor products into project designs.
  • Ensure all designs meet established quality standards, project timelines, and customer expectations.
  • Provide technical guidance and support to internal stakeholders.
  • Maintain knowledge of industry trends, supplier capabilities, laboratory furniture solutions, and SEFA standards.
  • Build strong cross-functional partnerships and serve as a trusted technical resource within the organization.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
