Our new Bioprocess Design Center is an innovative facility dedicated to demonstrating and training customers on our innovative single-use technologies, Upstream and Downstream solutions, cell culture media, cell lines, resin and analytical offerings. The respective personnel will help the BioProcess Design Center (BDC) as the Laboratory Coordinator. They will play a significant role in establishing and operationalizing the new Bio Design Center (BDC) facility. This position will be instrumental in the initial setup, commissioning, and organization of the laboratory infrastructure, ensuring the center is fully operational and optimized for commercial customer activities.

Requirements

  • Associates degree required or equivalent laboratory inventory management experience.
  • 1+ year experience in Laboratory Inventory Management.
  • Project Management Skills: Ability to coordinate multiple concurrent setup activities and lead project timelines
  • Interpersonal Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication abilities to coordinate with diverse customer groups
  • Software Proficiency: Advanced skills in MS Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and project management tools
  • Systems Thinking: Ability to design integrated laboratory systems and workflows
  • Problem-Solving: Strong analytical skills to identify and resolve setup challenges
  • Vendor Management: Experience with vendors and managing service agreements
  • Adaptability: Ability to work in a multifaceted startup environment with changing priorities
  • Lifting: The ability to regularly lift and move items weighing 30 to 50 pounds is a common requirement. Some roles may occasionally require lifting items up to 70-100 pounds, often with the use of material handling equipment like pallet jacks.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelors degree preferred.
  • Previous experience in laboratory design, construction, or major equipment installations
  • Familiarity with laboratory safety regulations, good laboratory practices (GLP), and equipment validation procedures
  • Understanding of laboratory equipment, instrumentation, and bioprocessing technologies

Responsibilities

  • Plan and implement comprehensive customer visits, including scheduling, conference room bookings, catering coordination, travel arrangements, and facility access management through security and badge systems (10%)
  • Serve as primary liaison between customers and technical teams, coordinating meetings with appropriate staff and business managers.
  • Generate comprehensive quotes for consumables, materials and engineering trial services required for customer design-in studies, coordinating rapid orders across different business units.
  • Handle rapid procurement and expedited ordering process to support time-sensitive customer trails and engineering studies, ensuring materials availability aligns with project timelines.
  • Develop dual track quoting system for providing detailed cost estimates for both Plainville team budget planning and external customer pricing expectations for trial services.
  • Maintain all lab equipment, work with facilities, engineering, and outside vendors on preventive maintenance schedule, commission new equipment, vendor appointment as and when required and maintain calibration status of all equipment (10%)
  • Maintain accurate lab inventory of chemicals and, coordinate stocking needs with local procurement group on site (20%)
  • Work with Finance to supervise expenses against budget and ensure invoices are paid, in addition to assisting in the annual budget planning process.
  • May assist in the preparation of chromatography buffer, formulation buffers, etc. according to buffer sheets with quality and consistency as requested (20%)
