The Laboratory Coordinator Senior for the Physics Instructional Resource Team oversees and coordinates the operational activities of lecture classrooms and the physics demonstration preparation room. This position ensures that all instructional equipment and requested demonstrations are properly set up, functioning, and ready for use in lectures, supporting a seamless and engaging teaching environment. The coordinator interacts closely with faculty to recommend, design, and develop new demonstrations, often collaborating with ASU’s workshop staff for construction and implementation. In addition, the role supervises assigned student workers, fostering their development while maintaining efficient operations. Aligned with the mission of the ASU Physics Introductory Labs, this position contributes to creating meaningful, hands-on experiences for students by supporting demonstrations that empower undergraduates to verify scientific concepts through experimentation. By ensuring reliable classroom operations and advancing innovative instructional demonstrations, the Laboratory Coordinator Senior directly supports the department’s goals of enhancing students’ critical thinking, analytical skills, communication, and appreciation for experimental physics in alignment with national teaching standards and the values of the New American University.
