About The Position

The Chemistry Department at Texas A&M University is hiring two new Laboratory Coordinator IIs. The Laboratory Coordinators II will oversee the daily operations of instructional laboratories and will support high-quality laboratory instruction for undergraduate and professional students. The selected candidates will prepare laboratory materials, train teaching assistants, and teach or co-teach laboratory sessions while ensuring compliance with laboratory safety protocols. These positions will also coordinate the setup, operation, and maintenance of multiple laboratory sections each week and will help maintain a safe, organized, and effective learning environment.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in chemistry or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Two years of related experience
  • Ability to bend and/or stoop for long periods.
  • Ability to lift and/or move moderate to heavy weight objects.

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s degree in chemistry.
  • Industry and/or teaching experience.
  • Knowledge of chemistry laboratory techniques and standard laboratory equipment.
  • Ability to assist in teaching Graduate, Professional, and undergraduate students in laboratory techniques.
  • Knowledge and ability to handle chemicals in a safe manner.
  • Knowledge of computers and cloud computing environments.
  • Excellent oral and written communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to cultivate and maintain professional working relationships with people from variety of experiences and perspectives.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with laboratory instruction training and support.
  • Coordinate, supervise, and lead instructional laboratory sessions for undergraduate and professional students.
  • Provide technical and academic support to students during laboratory activities.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable policies, safety regulations, and laboratory procedures.
  • Oversee instructional and ancillary laboratory spaces, both physical and digital.
  • Support daily laboratory operations, maintenance, and long-term organizational initiatives.
  • Maintain laboratory safety standards and operational effectiveness.
  • Transport and handle hazardous materials in accordance with regulations.
  • Grade and manage laboratory assignments, homework, quizzes, and examinations.
  • Administer laboratory software systems and instructional technologies.
  • Assist with laboratory supervision for large-enrollment courses.
  • Prepare instructional materials, pre-laboratory presentations, and examinations.
  • Manage and maintain instructional laboratory instrumentation and equipment.
  • Support outreach activities, including laboratory setup and event coordination.
  • Contribute to laboratory administration, assessment activities, and continuous improvement efforts.
