About The Position
Clinical Laboratories of Hawaii is hiring a full-time Laboratory Assistant at Maui Memorial Medical Center in Wailuku, Hawaii. The role supports patient care by ensuring laboratory specimens are collected, including through phlebotomy, processed, prepared, routed, and stored appropriately. The position includes paid on-the-job training and does not require prior experience. The base hourly pay rate is $19.74–$21.71, based on experience. The position is scheduled for 40 hours per week; days and hours are to be determined. The work takes place in a laboratory environment involving biological hazards and required personal protective equipment. The role requires attention to safety, compliance, quality control, and the confidential handling of protected health information. Employees are trained on safeguards and must access PHI only as needed for their job duties and follow applicable privacy and security standards.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Strong reading, writing, and analytical skills.
- Ability to operate general laboratory equipment, including telephones, computers, centrifuges, and audible alarms.
Nice To Haves
- One to two years of related experience in a clinical laboratory, data entry, or production.
Responsibilities
- Collect laboratory specimens, including performing phlebotomy.
- Process, prepare, route, and store laboratory specimens appropriately.
- Recognize when corrective action is needed and implement effective solutions.
- Follow safety, compliance, and quality-control practices in a laboratory environment with biological hazards and PPE requirements.
