Laboratory Assistant (ETS)| Temporary
About The Position
The Personalized Brain Health Initiative at Emory University is looking to hire a temporary courier of research samples for the Goizueta Institute Biorepository. Samples need to be transported between three buildings on campus (HSRB 1 on Haygood, Emory Clinic on Clifton, and Emory University Hospital). Hours can be flexible, with research visits occurring between 8 AM – 4 PM. The mission of the Personalized Brain Health Initiative is to leverage the power of data in collaboration with patients and the health care community to predict, prevent, diagnose, and treat brain diseases, creating personalized strategies that improve lives. The objective of the GIN Biorepository is to establish a centralized repository for biospecimens, specifically blood, to support ongoing and future basic and translational research studies related to brain diseases.
Requirements
- A high school diploma or equivalent.
- One year of related experience.
Responsibilities
- Performs routine laboratory and general clerical tasks necessary for daily operation of laboratory.
- Collects, prepares, cleans and stores glassware and other lab equipment.
- Stocks and prepares media, reagents, chemical solutions and stains.
- Maintains records and files.
- Sets up laboratory and research equipment as directed.
- Assists research and laboratory personnel with experiments and procedures.
- Performs related responsibilities as required.
- Employees in this classification may be required to work with, take specific precautions against and/or be immunized against potentially hazardous agents.
