Laboratory Assistant - Hospital
About The Position
The Laboratory Assistant supports patient care by properly processing, preparing, routing, and storing laboratory specimens. The role involves recognizing when corrective action is needed and implementing effective solutions while working in a laboratory environment with biological hazards and required personal protective equipment. The employee is expected to champion safety, compliance, and quality control. This is a full-time, benefit-eligible, first-shift position in Las Vegas, Nevada, with 40 scheduled hours per week. The position has routine access to Protected Health Information (PHI); employees must complete training on safeguards, maintain strict confidentiality, follow applicable privacy and security standards, and access PHI only when needed to perform job duties.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Previous training or experience in specimen collection or processing.
- Strong reading, writing, and analytical skills.
- Ability to operate general laboratory equipment, including telephones, computers, centrifuges, and audible alarms.
Nice To Haves
- 1–2 years of related experience in a clinical laboratory, data entry, or production.
