About The Position

Labcorp is seeking a Laboratory Assistant to join our team in Buffalo, NY. This role supports high-complexity Next-Generation Sequencing to help inform patient care. The position plays a key role in the daily operations of our molecular and histology laboratories, directly supporting the pre-analytical accessioning and support services teams. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong organizational skills, be proactive, learn new skills quickly, and be comfortable working independently or as part of a team.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent
Comfortability with handling biological specimens
Ability to accurately identify specimens
Basic computer knowledge and data entry skills
High level of attention to detail with the ability to prioritize and multitask
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and meet established turn-around times
Strong communication skills; both written and verbal
Ability to sit and/or stand for extended periods of time
Flexibility to work overtime as needed

Responsibilities

Organize, pack, and ship patient samples for offsite testing, utilizing the LIMS system to generate manifests and track shipments
Process patient Sample returns upon completion of testing
Assist with unpacking and organizing of daily shipments of patient samples
File or dispose patient slides in accordance with lab protocols
Retrieve Unstained slides from storage to assist the support services and pathology teams as needed
Receive package deliveries and notify appropriate teams
Monitor shipping supply inventory and assist with ordering as needed
Learn and support quality processes and procedures
Perform backup accessioning duties as needed
Other duties as assigned
