About The Position

The Lab Assistant 1 will be working with client samples providing preparations, extractions and analysis of these samples for routine organic laboratory maintenance parameters tasks and simple analyses. Please note this is a contract position and involves working the overnight shift.

Requirements

  • Must be capable of working with minimal supervision
  • Must be well organised, and able to work independently as well as part of a team
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to understand and carry out detailed instructions
  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Previous Lab experience, full training will be provided

Responsibilities

  • Adhere to strict QA/QC requirements
  • Operate lab instrument/equipment such as pipettes, shakers, centrifuges, pH meters, balances etc.
  • Perform instrument/equipment calibration and maintenance as required
  • Perform sample preparation such as weighing samples, sample transferring and sample concentration
  • Prepare all required reagents, standards, reference material, etc.
  • Carry out all required data processing (i.e., calculations, data review, data entry etc.)
  • Work in accordance with safety procedures and the Occupational Health and Safety Act
  • General laboratory/glassware clean-up and maintenance
  • General laboratory duties as required (vial labelling, supply restocking, extract disposal, etc.)
  • Produce all tasks within specific turnaround times (TAT)
  • Use correct methods in accordance with the established procedures and schedules while ensuring analytical quality
  • Observe established safety regulations and comply with all ALS health and safety policies and procedures
  • Other duties as assigned
