About The Position

The Laboratory Assistant II position is a full-time role located at Swedish Hospital. This role involves triaging and accessioning cytology and surgical specimens, processing gynecologic and non-gynecologic specimens using various techniques and equipment, and providing customer support as a technical liaison for the laboratory. The assistant will also support specimen send-outs, file slides, maintain a clean laboratory station, manage inventory, QA logs, and equipment functions, and troubleshoot issues with the supervisor.

Requirements

• HS Diploma or GED Required
• College degree preferably in science
• N/A Certification
• N/A Experience

• Laboratory experience preferred

Responsibilities

• Triage and accession cytology and surgical specimens
• Process gynecologic and non-gynecologic specimen using various processing and staining techniques and equipment
• Provide customer support as a technical liaison for the cytology and surgical pathology laboratory for inquiries
• Support specimen send outs by completing patient sample requests, and filing slides as back up to administrative assistant
• Maintain a clean laboratory station
• Manage the inventory, QA logs, and equipment functions
• Troubleshoot issues in the laboratory with the supervisor
