About The Position

Join Orlando Health as a Laboratory Assistant II! This role is located at Orlando Health - LAB MICRO/MOLECULAR and operates on a PerDeim schedule. As a Laboratory Assistant II, you will play a vital role in supporting diagnostic services that impact patient outcomes every day. You will be responsible for receiving, processing, labeling, and preparing specimens for testing, registering patients, entering laboratory orders accurately, and demonstrating knowledge of specimen collection and handling requirements. The position also involves processing pathology specimens, maintaining specimen integrity, supporting patient registration and reimbursement, assisting with quality improvement initiatives, maintaining equipment and supplies, providing customer service, ensuring compliance with safety and regulatory standards, and assisting with report distribution, filing, scheduling, and general laboratory operations. Phlebotomy may also be performed as needed.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • Current students pursuing a degree or certification in Nursing, Medical Technology, Pre-Med, or another related science field may substitute for required experience
  • Strong communication, organizational, and customer service skills
  • Ability to work independently and within a collaborative healthcare team
  • Flexibility to support departmental needs and varying schedules

Nice To Haves

  • Two (2) years of laboratory or patient care experience preferred

Responsibilities

  • Receive, process, label, and prepare specimens for testing
