About The Position

The Laboratory Assistant I position is a full-time role located at Evanston Hospital. The primary responsibilities include triaging cytology specimens, processing various types of specimens using different techniques, and providing technical support as a liaison for the cytology laboratory. This role also involves maintaining a clean work environment, managing inventory, logs, and equipment functions, and troubleshooting laboratory issues in collaboration with the supervisor.

Requirements

• HS Diploma required
• Lab experience preferred

• College degree preferably in science
• Laboratory experience preferred

Responsibilities

• Triage cytology specimen: gross specimen and accession specimen
• Process gynecologic and non-gynecologic specimen using various processing and staining techniques
• Provide customer support as a technical liaison for the cytology laboratory for inquiries
• Support specimen send outs by completing patient sample requests
• Maintain a clean laboratory station and work alongside team to manage the inventory, logs, equipment functions, and troubleshoot issues in the laboratory with the supervisor
