About The Position

The Laboratory and Field Technician will join the Materials Engineering Team across Atlantic Canada, contributing to the enhancement of the service offering in the province. This role involves working closely with a team of engineering specialists, professionals, and technical staff. The technician will conduct various tests, analyses, and experiments to characterize and evaluate the properties of materials used in construction for major clients, impacting the advancement of cutting-edge technologies and the creation of novel materials.

Responsibilities

  • Perform a range of field and/or laboratory tests and experiments to assess material (soil, concrete and hot mix asphalt) properties, composition, and behavior.
  • Operate and maintain testing equipment and instruments, ensuring accurate and reliable results.
  • Support equipment calibration, maintenance and general housekeeping requirements to maintain a safe working environment.
  • Support sample management and the safe materials handling practices required for shipping, receiving, logging, handling, storage and disposal of samples.
  • Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including researchers, engineers, and scientists, to support ongoing projects and provide valuable insights.
  • Compile and analyze experimental data for a variety of test methods, generating clear and concise reports to communicate findings to the team.
  • Follow WSP’s Project Review, Ethics and Safety Policies.
