About The Position

EMSL is seeking a Laboratory Analyst II (Asbestos) in Cinnaminson, NJ. This role involves the preparation and analysis of bulk and solid materials for asbestos content using various microscopy techniques, determining visual percentages and optical properties of materials, maintaining laboratory equipment, generating analytical reports, and performing administrative duties such as sample login and data entry. The position requires adherence to quality control practices and may involve other responsibilities as assigned by the manager.

Requirements

Authorization to work in the United States indefinitely without restriction or sponsorship
Ability to distinguish colors in order to perform analysis
Ability to work independently and as a part of a team, self-motivation, adaptability and a positive attitude
Effective time management, organizational skills, and the ability to multi-task and prioritize with minimal assistance
2+ years’ experience performing asbestos PLM/TEM/PCM analysis in commercial lab

Nice To Haves

Bachelor’s Degree in Geology or related science is a plus
Light microscopy, optical mineralogy/petrographic microscope training preferred

Responsibilities

Preparation and analysis of bulk and solid materials for asbestos content using PLM (Polarized Light Microscopy), PCM (Phase Contrast Microscopy), and/or TEM (Transmission Electron Microscopy), and all ancillary quality control procedures
Determination of visual percentage and optical properties of asbestos and non-asbestos material
Clean, maintain, and troubleshoot laboratory equipment as needed
Generate analytical reports and enter data into LIMS system
Perform quality control practices per company Quality Assurance/Quality Control manual
Administrative duties including sample login and data entry, scanning and emailing reports and answering phones
Other responsibilities as deemed necessary by the manager
