Requirements

phlebotomy diploma preferred
excellent communication & customer service skills
good infection control practices

Responsibilities

Performing phlebotomy and pre-analytical phase of clinical laboratory practice.
Performing limited laboratory procedures according to CLIA guidelines for Waived lab testing, which require the limited exercise of independent judgment and interpretation.
Following established procedures for collection and processing biological specimens for analysis.
Performing assigned analytical tests or procedures that are CLIA Waived.
Recognizing factors that affect measurement and results and taking appropriate action according to predetermined protocols.
Communicating information such as test results, reference ranges and specimen requirements to appropriate staff.
Performing routine quality control and maintaining accurate records.
Attending laboratory and/or organizational meetings and in-services to allow for effective communication and training.
Demonstrating knowledge and skills necessary to provide care based on physiological, psychosocial, educational, safety and related criteria, appropriate to neonates, infants, toddlers, pediatrics, adolescents, adults and geriatrics.
Performing additional duties deemed appropriate by the Department Director in relation with laboratory functions; such as data gathering for research, correlation studies for new methodology, education/demonstration for new employees and students interesting in this field, keeping the work environment clean, etc.
