The California Nurses Association (CNA)/National Nurses Organizing Committee (NNOC)/National Nurses United (NNU) is a union of registered nurses dedicated to transforming the healthcare industry to prioritize patient care. They are seeking organizers passionate about justice and collective action to build worker power. The organization fights for better workplaces, stronger communities, and a society that puts people before profit. They welcome candidates from diverse backgrounds including labor, community organizing, nonprofits, advocacy organizations, student movements, political campaigns, and other mission-driven backgrounds. The organization believes in class-struggle, transformative change, and political engagement through collective action and democratic participation. Successful candidates are deeply committed to justice and solidarity, strong relationship builders, resilient, adaptable, motivated by collective action, comfortable engaging and mobilizing others, and prepared to work irregular hours, adapt to rapid shifts in priorities, travel, respond to campaigns, support workers during nights and weekends, and make personal sacrifices to advance collective goals. This position is focused on building worker power and developing nurse leaders, strengthening workplace committees, mobilizing members around workplace and healthcare issues, advancing healthcare as a human right, and supporting efforts to eliminate racial and ethnic disparities in health outcomes. The role involves experience in collective bargaining, planning collective actions to resolve grievances, organizing campaigns, and using workplace issues and data strategically to engage members, build collective strength, and win improvements for nurses and patients.
