About The Position

Under general supervision, is responsible for the performance of manual, semiskilled and limited skilled work in the care, maintenance and repair of County parks and park facilities. All candidates conditionally offered transfer, promotion or initial hiring into a DOT/safety-sensitive position shall submit to testing for drugs and alcohol and test negative before performing any job functions that are safety-sensitive or require a CDL. External job applicants with a confirmed positive drug or alcohol test result shall be denied employment and shall be required to wait one year before applying for another position within Tulsa County.

Requirements

Completion of the eighth grade and over one year of experience as a laborer performing maintenance and/or construction work.
Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
Ability to write simple correspondence.
Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.
Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
Valid Oklahoma Driver's License
Oklahoma Chemical Technician License

Responsibilities

Perform semiskilled carpentry, plumbing, electrical, masonry and other tasks.
Lay water services pipes, opens clogged sewers.
Operate tractors with mowing attachments and other light automotive equipment.
Operate various types of power equipment and hand tools.
Paint facilities.
Repair fences.
Plant, maintain, trim and remove various types of ornamental plants, grasses, shrubs and trees.
Spray pesticides, herbicides, and water landscape areas.
Clean and maintain equipment and tools.
May provide routine maintenance on equipment; build forms for concrete work, mix and finish concrete; and perform manual cleanup of park area.
Perform other duties as assigned.
