About The Position

Foster Garvey is seeking an attorney with 6 to 12 years of experience to join its Labor, Employment & Immigration Practice group as an associate or counsel-level attorney in our Seattle office. For highly experienced and motivated attorneys with a portable book of business, a principal role may be considered. Foster Garvey represents both large and small employers. We have deep experience across multiple industry sectors, including healthcare, public entities, assisted living, higher education, shipping, Indian tribes, manufacturing, construction, retail, restaurants, insurance brokerages, consulting, financial services, and professional services. Requirements

  • 6 to 12 years of experience in labor and employment law
  • Strong academic credentials
  • Excellent analytical and writing skills
  • A client-service approach
  • Exceptional communication skills
  • Enthusiasm to work with and build a diverse team
  • A license to practice law in Washington State is required

Nice To Haves

  • Interest, ability, or experience working in traditional labor legal advice or collective bargaining negotiations is a plus
  • Experience with Oregon litigation or employment law is a plus
  • A license to practice law in Oregon State is a plus

Responsibilities

  • Single-plaintiff and class action litigation
  • Employment advice and counseling
  • Working in a broad spectrum of employment law, litigation and advice, including anti-discrimination and harassment, wage and hour claims and counseling, employee leave and disability accommodation management and advice, and drafting employment agreements, settlements, policies and handbooks
  • Provide efficient and effective direct client service and build and maintain successful client relationships
  • Independently manage significant and simultaneous individual responsibilities and work with multiple attorneys
  • Business development and supporting practice group business development
  • Work on pro bono matters and public service
