About The Position

HireNow Staffing is actively recruiting a seasoned, highly skilled Labor & Employment Attorney on behalf of a valued client partner, a respected law firm based in Los Angeles. This is a direct hire / permanent placement opportunity. The firm is seeking a defense-side employment attorney with strong litigation capability, sound judgment, and the ability to independently manage multiple matters in a fast-paced legal environment. The ideal candidate is a polished attorney who can balance litigation execution, client advisory work, and strategic case management. The firm prioritizes attorneys with strong tenure, progressive responsibility, and demonstrated performance, and will not consider candidates with unstable or frequently changing employment history.

Requirements

  • Minimum 5+ years of labor and employment law experience with employer-side / defense representation
  • Active California Bar license in good standing
  • Strong litigation experience including pleadings, discovery, depositions, and motion practice
  • Excellent legal research, writing, and analytical skills
  • Proven ability to manage multiple matters efficiently under deadlines
  • Strong client communication skills and professional judgment
  • Ability to work independently with limited supervision while contributing to a collaborative team
  • Stable employment history with clear progression

Nice To Haves

  • Public entity labor and employment law experience
  • Trial or arbitration hearing experience
  • Wage & hour class action or PAGA defense exposure
  • Experience advising employers on workplace investigations, leaves, accommodations, and compliance matters
  • Strong billable history meeting or exceeding productivity expectations
  • Prior experience in respected regional, boutique, or midsize defense firms
  • Ability to supervise junior attorneys or paralegals on active matters

Responsibilities

  • Represent employer-side clients in labor and employment litigation, administrative matters, and advisory engagements
  • Handle matters from intake through resolution, including pleadings, discovery, depositions, mediation, motion practice, and trial preparation
  • Conduct advanced legal research and draft persuasive motions, memoranda, briefs, and case strategy documents
  • Advise clients on employment compliance, workplace risk management, policy interpretation, wage and hour matters, and employee relations issues
  • Manage deadlines, court filings, discovery calendars, and litigation strategy across multiple active matters
  • Prepare witnesses, coordinate experts, and support trial teams when matters proceed toward hearing or trial
  • Communicate effectively with clients, opposing counsel, courts, and internal legal teams
  • Collaborate with partners and other attorneys while also handling matters independently
