About The Position

Aligned Talent Acquisition is recruiting for an experienced Labor & Employment Associate Attorney opportunity with a leading Am Law 100 firm in Chicago. This is an excellent opportunity for an attorney interested in a sophisticated management-side labor and employment practice, including employment litigation, workplace counseling, investigations, and other complex employment matters for employers across a diverse range of industries.

Requirements

  • 2–6 years of labor and employment experience
  • Experience representing employers in employment litigation in state and federal courts and before administrative agencies
  • Experience with matters involving discrimination, retaliation, wrongful termination, wage and hour claims, restrictive covenants, and other workplace disputes
  • Experience drafting pleadings, motions, briefs, discovery, and other litigation documents
  • Experience taking and defending depositions and assisting with mediation, arbitration, and trial preparation
  • Experience counseling employers regarding employee relations, workplace policies, terminations, accommodations, leaves of absence, and employment law compliance
  • Strong legal research, writing, analytical, and advocacy skills
  • Excellent client service and communication skills
  • Ability to manage multiple sophisticated matters in a fast-paced environment
  • J.D. from an ABA-accredited law school required
  • Illinois bar admission required or ability to become admitted

Nice To Haves

  • Experience conducting or assisting with workplace investigations is a plus
  • Traditional labor experience involving collective bargaining, grievances, or unfair labor practice matters is a plus

Responsibilities

  • Represent employers in employment litigation in state and federal courts and before administrative agencies.
  • Handle matters involving discrimination, retaliation, wrongful termination, wage and hour claims, restrictive covenants, and other workplace disputes.
  • Draft pleadings, motions, briefs, discovery, and other litigation documents.
  • Take and defend depositions and assist with mediation, arbitration, and trial preparation.
  • Counsel employers regarding employee relations, workplace policies, terminations, accommodations, leaves of absence, and employment law compliance.
  • Conduct or assist with workplace investigations.
  • Handle traditional labor matters involving collective bargaining, grievances, or unfair labor practice matters.
