About The Position

The Labor Crew Chief II will primarily assist the Field Operations Supervisor and Operations Supervisor with the day-to-day operational services. The Labor Crew Chief II serves in an operational team lead capacity under the guidance of the Field Operations Supervisor; Assists in the supervision of crews whose primary function is the daily collection of solid waste for areas including special services, garbage, yard waste, bulky and the CATS Goldline; Demonstrates excellent interpersonal, written/verbal communication and customer service skills; Work involves extensive public contact. The Labor Crew Chief II exercises independent judgment and makes sound operational decisions to ensure that established performance standards and safety practices are met; Displays considerable knowledge of methods and practices in the Solid Waste Industry and assists in the coordination of crew activities within established guidelines; Assists in preparation and maintenance of operational and administrative reports.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office software, Emerald & Kronos.
  • Ability to obtain a City Driver’s Permit.
  • Requires a Class 'A' or 'B' CDL
  • Ability to understand and follow complex oral and written instructions.
  • Ability to work nights, weekends, holidays, or other unusual hours in support of special events or emergency response.
  • Must be able to perform outdoor duties during all weather conditions.

  • Driving (75%)
  • Walking (Up to 5 miles) and/or for extended periods of time

  • Ability to operate small hand tools
  • Ability to perform light manual labor in the course of supporting field operations, demonstrating work requirements, providing training, or other duties as required.
  • Operate cars, light trucks or vans on a regular basis. Occasionally operate a variety of other light to heavy-duty equipment in the course of demonstrating or assessing equipment use or capabilities.
  • Work involves frequent outside exposure under all weather conditions; may also include exposure to machinery, moving vehicles, loud noise, large crowds and slippery or uneven surfaces.
  • High School Graduate or Equivalent and five years relevant work experience
  • Valid Commercial Drivers License
