About The Position

Hospital Sisters Health System (HSHS) is seeking a Registered Nurse (RN) to join our Multispecialty Care team. Ideal candidates are patient focused, mission driven caregivers looking for an opportunity to apply clinical knowledge to coordinate and perform hands on acute patient care at the bedside. This role is in the Labor and Delivery department and involves nights, 36 hours per week, from 7pm to 7am at St John’s Hospital in Springfield, IL. A sign-on bonus of up to $20,000 is available. The position focuses on establishing a compassionate environment by providing emotional, psychological, and spiritual support to patients, friends, and families. It also involves promoting and restoring patients' health by completing the nursing process, collaborating with physicians and multidisciplinary team members, and supervising assigned team members. The role aims to promote patient's independence by establishing patient care goals, teaching patients and families about their condition, medications, and self-care skills, and answering questions. It also ensures quality of care by adhering to therapeutic standards, measuring health outcomes against patient care goals, and making necessary adjustments.

Requirements

  • Graduate from an accredited and approved school of nursing accepted for licensure in the state of practice is required.
  • Licensed as a Registered Nurse (RN) in state of practice is required.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) is required.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree in Nursing is preferred.
  • Experience in healthcare is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Establishes a compassionate environment by providing emotional, psychological, and spiritual support to patients, friends, and families.
  • Promotes and restores patients' health by completing the nursing process, collaborating with physicians and multidisciplinary team members, providing physical and psychological support to patients, friends, and families, and supervising assigned team members.
  • Promotes patient's independence by establishing patient care goals, teaching patient, friends, and family to understand condition, medications, and self-care skills, and answering questions.
  • Assures quality of care by adhering to therapeutic standards, measuring health outcomes against patient care goals and standards, making or recommending necessary adjustments, and following nursing philosophies and standards of care set by state board of nursing, state nurse practice act, and other governing agency regulations.
