About The Position

This is an on-call, as needed position to assist in covering rotational shifts of days, mids, and nights and weekends, office-based position in Madison, WI. As one of the largest Clinical Research Organizations in the world, we have four Early Phase Clinical Research Units in the UK and US. We are currently seeking a Lab Technician (On-Call), to coordinate and ensure procedures for handling and process. This is an exciting opportunity to expand your knowledge and experience in clinical research. This is an On-Call, office based position in Madison, WI. If you join us, you will work with some of the world´s leading pharmaceutical, biotechnology, and medical device companies in a vital stage of clinical development: establishing the safety, tolerability and pharmacokinetics of a new drug. Many Technicians are drawn to their profession because of its direct impact on patient care. If this is your case, you will not miss that working in Phase 1 trials. Whilst allowing you to have a close face-to-face relationship with participants, and as you continue to practice your clinical skills and knowledge, you´ll be involved with the latest medical technologies and treatments, witnessing their development firsthand. When the drug you worked with gets approved, you know you´ll touch many patient´s lives around the world. WHAT YOU WILL DO: You will utilize your skills, knowledge, and clinical judgement to provide a high standard of care for participants in clinical trials and respond to emergency situations based upon clinical research standards.

Requirements

  • Associate’s Degree or equivalent.
  • 1 year of laboratory experience.
  • Additional laboratory experience may be substituted for education requirements.
  • English written and oral communication required
  • Fortrea may consider relevant equivalent experience in lieu of educational requirements
  • Fast paced: where no deviations from the study protocol are allowed, and not meeting a timeline for even few minutes will create a quality issue.
  • Changing priorities constantly asking you to prioritize and adapt on the spot.
  • Teamwork and people skills are essential for the study to run smoothly.
  • Technology based. We collect our data directly into an electronic environment.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous clinical experience is ideal, but not a must.

Responsibilities

  • Follows the laboratory procedures for specimen handling and processing.
  • Operates laboratory equipment.
  • Recognizes deviations from expected results and follows up appropriately.
  • Processes and ships PK samples according to study specific instructions.
  • Performs phlebotomy as needed.
  • Participates in the collection of biological specimens.
  • Evaluates and solves problems related to the collection and processing of specimens.
  • Facilitates the work flow through the laboratory to ensure completion of processing in a timely manner.
  • Operates and utilizes all communications systems available in the laboratory; telephones, copiers, facsimile machines and pagers.
  • Maintains and cleans laboratory equipment.
  • Inventories reagents and supplies to ensure uninterrupted operations.
  • Handles hazardous materials, reagents and chemicals in a safe manner in accordance to laboratory policy and procedure.
  • Washes laboratory glassware and maintains general laboratory cleanliness.
  • Completes special projects.
  • Supports and participates in Corporate and Department initiatives regarding quality system implementation, maintenance, and continuous quality improvement activities.
