About The Position

The Lab Technician will participate in formulation development projects, verify reactivity profile and physical testing properties to confirm correct formulations, and perform chemical testing on wet samples. This role involves preparing polyurethane formulas on a lab scale, mixing samples, and operating titration equipment for chemical properties. The technician will record results in a database, create spreadsheets, maintain records, and organize/maintain the lab area, including ordering supplies. Responsibilities also include setting up, calibrating, and maintaining lab equipment, preparing and updating quality reports and work instructions, and reporting any discrepancies to supervision. The position requires participation in team problem-solving and continuous improvement activities, adherence to safety and environmental procedures, and collaboration with other departments as needed. This is a full-time, on-site position in Rochester Hills, MI.

Requirements

  • Associate degree in Science (Chemistry preferred)
  • 1-3 years of previous quality lab experience, preferably in industrial setting
  • Experience working with lab equipment (Carl Fisher water titration device, viscometer, general lab equipment)
  • Strong communication skills, both written and oral.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Suite

  • Experience working with polymers- a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Participate in formulation development projects.

  • Prepare and update quality reports and work instructions.
  • Report all discrepancies or conditions identified to be out of the normal operating condition to immediate supervisor.
  • Participate in team problem solving activities and continuous improvement activities.
  • Follow all internal and OSHA required safety and environmental procedures.
  • Adhere to all company policies and procedures.
  • Collaborate with other departments as needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by supervision.
