About The Position

The Lab Technician will play a crucial role in the production of quality commercial vaccines through the cultivation of multiple vector-expressed targets in our Sioux Center, IA lab facilities.

Requirements

  • Previous experience working in a laboratory.
  • Ability to communicate effectively (written, verbal, and presentation) with all levels of the organization.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.
  • Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

Nice To Haves

  • Degree or experience in a related field is preferred but not required.
  • Aseptic technique experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Performing aseptic procedures including cell culture manipulations and viral cultivation learned through on-the-job training.
  • Perform necessary functions to manufacture multiple vector-expressed products
  • Routine cleaning and disinfection of laboratory and laboratory equipment.
  • Prepare, clean and sterilize glassware and associated tubing and related components.
  • Ability to follow Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and problem solve.
  • Ability to accurately document tasks and concurrent record keeping.
  • Must be able to learn and follow regulatory guidelines set by the USDA.
  • Assisting in other areas as needed and performing other duties as assigned.
